This is a last minute review but I had to do it because it's not everyday that I have the chance to hear a promising French heavy metal band like this ! The last was OVERSTEP and the next is MALEDICTION! MALEDICTION is a four piece outfit which delivers classic hard-edged metal in the way BLASPHEME, SORTILEGE or HOLSTER did it in the early '80s ! Nothing less, nothing more!! That five song demo on cd starts with a hot instrumental titled "Apocalypse" which already give the right impression, followed by "Le fils de Satan", a song BLASPHEME could have penned years ago! "Prince des tenebres" is a moderately fast paced song with excellent harmony parts, more great metal ! Next is "Condamné" which starts as a classic eighties ballad but gradually it becomes a heavier track and through this it shows that those guys have truly understood what old metal was all about! But the best comes with the last track "L'ange de l'enfer" which features and excellent catchy riffing all the way! A classic heavy metal song!!! It's that great! Honestly, I never thought Iwould hear again a band as good as this in France as it seems those guys have listened day and night the classic french metal albums from the 80s without incorporating any influence from the so called actual true metal bands ala HAMMERFALL, RHAPSODY and stuff like that!
